Welcome to TheatreFest 2026: A Celebration of Educational Theatre

TheatreFest is an annual convention that provides comprehensive training and education for both current theatre practitioners and aspiring educators. This dynamic event features a diverse range of activities, including:

  • Workshops: Engaging sessions covering aspects of theatre for Elementary, Middle, High School, and College/University Educators offering hands-on experiences and insights into innovative teaching methods and theatrical techniques.

  • PlayFest: A playwriting competition encouraging playwriting skills and development.

  • DesignFest: A design competition and showcase focusing on theatrical design and stage management.

  • FilmFest: A film-making contest where participants create short films using smartphones.

  • TxETA's Got Talent: An exciting and unpredictable improv show

  • Scholarship Auditions: Scholarship opportunities for high school and college/university students.

TheatreFest also includes performances, professional guests, and commercial and educational exhibitors!

REGISTRATION:

  • Register before September 8: $250  Late registration begins September 9: $275
  • Register before September 8 to receive a TxETA T-Shirt. 

TxETA MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED FOR REGISTRATION TO THEATREFEST:

  • TxETA membership year -  September 1 to August 31.  Purchasing your TxETA membership in September will cover all events through the end of August

  • TheatreFest is the first event of the membership year/SummerFest is the last event of the membership year.

  • One-Day Attendees: If you only plan to attend the one-day TTAC or TTAO Conference, please select TTAC Only or TTAO Only below.

  • Full Convention Attendees: If you are attending the full TheatreFest 2026 Convention in addition to the TTAC or TTAO Conference, select Adult Member.

Please note: Single-day TTAC-Only and TTAO-Only registrations grant access exclusively to those specific events and do not include full TheatreFest access

Higher Education Research & Creative Conference (HERCC)           *** This question is for Higher Education Members Only. ***

The cost for the TTAO Conference is included at no additional charge with full Convention Registration.

HERCC provides a forum for scholars, teachers, students, professionals, and others interested in the scholarly inquiry of theatre-related topics. Attendees gather to present papers, roundtable discussions, and poster/digital presentations and discuss the ideas set forth as a group, thus creating an opportunity to share ideas and promote scholarship in the academic and professional theatre community. While special consideration is given to submissions intersecting with the determined annual theme, scholarly research presentations focusing on any topic relating to all aspects of theatre studies are welcome.
