Welcome to TheatreFest 2025: A Celebration of Educational Theatre

TheatreFest is an annual convention that provides comprehensive training and education for both current theatre practitioners and aspiring educators. This dynamic event features a diverse range of activities, including:

  • Theatre and Film Workshops: Engaging sessions covering various aspects of theatre and film, tailored for Elementary, Middle, High School, and College/University educators. These workshops offer hands-on experiences and insights into innovative teaching methods and theatrical techniques.

  • PlayFest: A platform for playwriting development.

  • DesignFest: A design competition and showcase focusing on theatrical design and stage management.

  • FilmFest: A film-making contest where participants create short films using smartphones.

  • TxETA's Got Talent: An exciting talent show for performers.

  • Scholarship Auditions: Opportunities for students to audition for scholarships.

TheatreFest also includes performances, special guest artists, and commercial and educational exhibitors, making it a comprehensive event for theatre enthusiasts at all educational levels.

REGISTRATION:

  • Register before September 8: $250  Late registration begins September 9: $275
  • Register before September 8 to receive a TxETA T-Shirt. 

TxETA MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED FOR REGISTRATION TO THEATREFEST:

  • If you recently joined or renewed TxETA for SummerFest (State OAP Mini-Conference or HERCC), you'll need to renew again for TheatreFest.

  • This is because the TxETA membership year runs from September 1 to August 31 each year.

  • If you bought your membership recently, it's almost over. TheatreFest is the first event of the next membership year

  • Since you can sign up for both SummerFest and TheatreFest at the same time, buying a membership for SummerFest doesn't cover TheatreFest.

  • To go to both events, you'd end up buying two memberships around the same time, one for an event in the current year and one for the upcoming year beginning September 1.

  • To avoid this, it's recommended to renew your TxETA membership at the beginning of the school year (September). This way, one membership fee will cover you for all TxETA events for the entire year.

  • The TxETA membership year is September 1 - August 31 each year.

Please upload a recent headshot of yourself. This can be a professional photo or a casual selfie. We want to see you, so please avoid group photos, pets, or any other images. Your photo helps with identification at the convention.
